Lower School Music Teacher, Katy Pelletier, took a class this summer focused on the “Musician of the Month Project.” The goal of the “Musician of the Month” listening curriculum is to inspire all students to be life-long, active music-makers by featuring diverse musicians who act as musical role models. The curriculum also aims to address issues of diversity, equity and inclusivity in Music education.  From the website, “Just like the folk music repertoire we choose for our student body, there should be some connection between the cultures of our students and the cultures represented in our music listening selections. Students need to see themselves in the curriculum in some way.”
