Though you may have previously known us as Walk the Walk, we are now known as Walk with Purpose.
Yes, we may have a new name but we are still the same committed team of students that strive to connect with and make a difference in the lives of patients going through cancer treatments.
The name Walk with Purpose better suits our mission and goals.
Celebrating the 24th annual all-school community service event
The Walk with Purpose is an annual student-led event to benefit pediatric cancer research.
Our goal is to increase attention and support for cancer awareness through many activities. This past year the committee, chairs, and co-chairs have created new and innovative events.

A meaningful experience for the cancer patients
We have worked tirelessly to do as much hands-on work as possible.
Teamed up with the middle school knitting club in order to distribute the knitted blankets and hats to patients going through chemotherapy.
Met with nurses and created plans to be as connected as possible with these patients.
Filled bags with candy and treats for the children in treatment. During the Halloween/fall season.
Wrote handwritten notes to the doctors, nurses, patients, and families. These personalized notes included jokes, pictures and whatever we could think of to make these important people smile.
This is by far the year we have been the most hands-on, which is a feat considering the current state of everything. We wanted to make this a meaningful experience for these patients and leave a positive lasting impression.

Thank you for your support
To date, we have raised over $960,000 to benefit the Heidi Hewes Chapter of the University of Miami WCA, The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center - Alex’s Place/Holtz Children’s Hospital, and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital while focusing on childhood cancer that had directly impacted our school community.
We would like to thank you for supporting our Walk with Purpose in the past and would appreciate your support once again.
Miami Country Day School is more than a school. Is a community that shares a common goal: the education of our children in all aspects of life believing that is the only way We can build a better world.

When I first heard of the walk, I knew it was something that I needed to be a part of. As someone whose family has been personally affected by cancer, I felt that joining The Walk would be honoring them. The Walk for Purpose mission is to raise money and awareness on cancer and the effect it can have on many people. I am so honored and blessed to be a part of such an amazing community of people who want to make a difference.
Being part of the Walk with Purpose has given me a sense of community. I know that every dollar raised and every step taken in the Walk with Purpose is making a difference in the fight against cancer. This organization has brought together people from all walks of life to support a common goal, and I am proud to be a part of such a passionate and dedicated community.”
I first discovered the Walk for Purpose Club through my friend in sixth grade. I remember going to the Walk that same year. Seeing so many people from such different communities coming together to contribute to this great cause ignited a spark in me. I wanted to be a part of this wonderful movement, to help out and apply myself in any way I possibly could. I continued attending the walk the following years and as soon as I became a freshman I took action to join the Walk for Purpose club. This club is a symbol of hope to me, hope that I can do something that will leave a lasting effect on the lives of many.
When I first heard of the walk, I was in second grade and not yet part of the MCDS community. I became very interested in what the club's purpose was and how deeply it cared about raising funds for hospital patients who are faced with cancer. Personally, this club is very near and dear to my heart as I know many people, including myself who this disease has impacted. On the first day of my Freshman year, I made it my mission to secure a spot in the club as I wanted to be someone who contributed to helping by any means I could. My favorite memory is at the Walk, where everyone in our Spartan community gathered to honor and contribute to the club's mission in support of all those affected by cancer. As a rising junior, I am very excited to hold a position in the club as, for me, the club not only means giving back to your community but also giving patients a chance to live up to their full potential while they are going through this turbulent time.
For me, Walk for Purpose allows me to express my passion for helping our community. I believe that the life I want to live is a life where I am able to help others.
I joined walk with purpose to support and advocate for cancer research. I have family members that have battled with cancer and I want to help end this struggle and find a better way to fight cancer.
Having been at MCDS for over 10 years, Walk with Purpose has always been one of the events that made the school feel like home. The way all three divisions came together to support an extremely important cause created a bond between all the students, faculty, and friends that attended. Once I got to high school it wasn't even a question; I wanted to build upon the legacy that had been created and raise as much money as I could to do my part in the fight against children's cancer.

Walk with Purpose is not just a program, and it's certainly not just a walk. It holds a deep meaning to me, being a symbol of hope, resilience, and unity. It gives us the opportunity to make an individual's life better, to give to our community, and to make someone's day, making a difference in fighting against cancer by coming together and supporting those in need.
The annual Walk is a fun, meaningful experience that I love to be a part of every year. It’s an opportunity to grow attention and support for cancer awareness in an active, positive way. My family has attended ever since I enrolled at Miami Country Day, and they always leave with a smile on their face. I am very grateful to be involved in this event and to truly get to show people what goes behind the name, Walk with Purpose.

I have been at MCDS since first grade, and I cannot remember one year I have not attended the walk. The walk with purpose has been an essential part of my experience at MCDS, not only because I have been part of the walk committee for so many years, but because it means so much to me. Whether you are supporting a friend or a loved one, the walk truly has a different meaning to everyone. To me, the walk means that anything worth doing, is worth doing today. No matter what is taken from you on the outside, it can never change who you are on the inside. By participating in the walk, it means I have the power to save lives and honor those who I have lost, especially one of the most important people in my life, my grandma.
Being a leader of the Walk with Purpose committee has deepened my appreciation for the fragility of life while providing me with a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of countless cancer patients. Through Walk with Purpose, I have found a pathway to contribute towards raising funds that directly benefit patients who are fighting the toughest battle of their lives. Having family members who have battled cancer, I am familiar with the feelings of despair that often accompany cancer. I feel immensely grateful for the privilege of being part of such a wonderful committee that works hard to help benefit those affected by cancer.
I am very passionate about my work with the walk. The sense of community that is present not only at the walk itself but also in the steps that go into planning it, is one of the main reasons why I am so fond of the event. Our cause is one that has affected thousands if not millions of people, and to be able to be working towards creating change is so incredibly important to me. I have been helping out with the walk since middle school and I love that I get to continue working with such an amazing team to help out in such an amazing way.
