WILL AN ENTIRE CLASS OR COHORT BE ASKED TO QUARANTINE IF ONE STUDENT TESTS POSITIVE?
The combination of masking and physical distancing, creates a protected exposure, minimizing the chance for exposure and subsequent infection. Based on CDC guidance, this type of protected exposure would not require an entire cohort to quarantine. An unprotected exposure would require additional quarantine procedures. For example, if one child has symptoms and/or tests positive, we would ask the child’s siblings to quarantine as well since masking and physical distancing is not likely happening in the family home.
