The Spartan Legacy

Teamwork, sportsmanship, tradition, dedication, self-esteem - these are all values we foster in our athletics program that stay with Spartans for a lifetime.
Spartan student-athletes are:
  • Appreciate the lifelong values of physical activity
  • Provide the opportunity to become experienced, skilled and confident in any athletic arena
  • Make the athletic experience rewarding and educational
Our coaches, many of whom are teachers at the school, provide instruction and encouragement to build strong teams on and off the field.
The 36 Spartan teams train in state-of-the-art facilities and compete against the top teams throughout Florida. Spartans have earned 158 district championships, 19 regional championships, 6 state championships and 2 national championships across our sports teams.
Miami Country Day School student-athletes forge lifelong friendships and memories while developing an appreciation for health, fitness and sport.

The Best of Miami High School Sports

Reach New Heights with the MCDS Sports Facilities

We offer state-of-the-art facilities and endless options for our 36 athletic teams to challenge themselves and each other to improve and grow.

The Koch Family Athletic Complex was dedicated in September 2005 and is the home to our football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and softball teams. This state-of-the-art facility has helped our Spartans win 25 district and regional championships, including eight in a row for our girls soccer team, and 57 players have been named to the Miami Herald All-County Team.

The J. Calvin Rose Athletic Center was opened in November 1988 and is the home of our volleyball and basketball teams. It has helped the Spartans win 39 district and regional championships, and 36 players have been named to the Miami Herald All-County Team. The court was renamed in honor of our basketball coaching legend, Ochiel Swaby, in February 2018. Coach Swaby had led the Lady Spartans to 12 District, 8 Regional, 6 State and 2 National Championships.

The Miami Country Day School Aquatic Center was finished in September 2000 and is the home to our water polo and swim teams. This facility has helped the Spartans win 15 district and regional championships and 22 players have been named to the Miami Herald All-County Team.
