At Miami Country Day School, EI²;Entrepreneurship, Invention, and Innovation, iinvites Middle and Upper School students to explore creativity and technology through hands-on, challenge-based learning. This dynamic product development program and Honor Society serves as a catalyst for students to master the tools of the Innovation Center and transform ideas into meaningful, high-impact projects.
Under the guidance of the Garner Center for Innovation team; Ms. Haswell, Director; Mr. Fulton, Innovation Specialist; and Ms. Fulton, Innovation Specialist, students complete a series of skill-based challenges in Google Classroom designed to build expertise in 3D printing and design (Tinkercad and Fusion 360), laser and vinyl cutting, instructional robotics, programming and coding (Python and Java), electronics with Arduino, VR environment creation, and 2D design using Canva and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator). The program culminates at the end of 8th grade for EI² Jr. and 12th grade for EI², when students complete a major project in one of three focus areas; Programming and Robotics, Entrepreneurship and Invention, or Educational Development, and present their work and growth at the annual Spring Innovation Symposium.
EI² empowers students to think critically, design boldly, and develop the confidence to turn innovation into action, where every idea has the potential to become an invention, and every invention can inspire change.
