    Friday, March 13, 2020:

    In Thursday’s Athletic Events......The Girls Middle School Tennis Team (7-2) beat Divine Savior Academy 7-0. Scout Hudson, Ginger Jacob, Talia Kurlandski, Maria Lola Lopez, and Remi Rosenberg all won their singles matches, and Scout and Ginger, Natalia Torres and Natalia Marquez won their doubles match. The Varsity Baseball Team (1-4) beat Palmer-Trinity in 8-innings 6-5. Eric Germeus was 2 for 2 with 3 stolen bases, a run scored, and the walk-off RBI, Dhillon Murphy went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI, Hanley Ramirez threw 3 no-hit innings in relief for the win with 8 strikeouts, Tanner Sennett was 1 for 2 with a run scored, and Avery Sinnes went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. The Softball Team (2-4) lost to Colonial Christian 16-6.  Tatiana Barnes led the way with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, Sophia Gostfrand had 2 hits, scored a run, and drove in a run, Saarah Rassif doubled, scored, and drove in a run, Samantha Kodsi doubled and drove in a run, and Logan Sennett singles and scored. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (5-5) lost to St. Andrew’s School 5-2.  Brooke Kovacs won her singles match. The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (0-9) lost to St. Andrew’s School 4-3.  Luca Donayre and Oscar Goncalves each won their singles matches. The Boys and Girls Varsity Water Polo results will be included in our next update.

    Florida High School Athletic Association Academic Team Champions: …..The FHSAA Academic Team Champion recognition program honors teamwork not only in competition, but in the classroom as well. The program recognizes teams in each of the Association’s sanctioned and recognized sports, naming an Academic Team Champion in each classification.  Congratulations to the Miami Country Day School Winter Teams, as they were recognized this past week by the Florida High School Athletic Association. 
     
    Boys Basketball-1st in Class 3A - 3.807 GPA (1st overall for all classifications)
    Girls Soccer-3rd in Class 3A - 3.869 GPA
    Boys Soccer-6th in Class 3A - 3.678 GPA
    Girls Basketball - 12th in 3A -3.572 GPA
     
    In Monday’s Athletic Action......The Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team (3-4) beat Westminster Christian 7-1.  Sophia Agurcia led the way with 5 goals and an assist, Nin Le Troadec had 2 goals and an assist, and Stella Dunham forced seven turnovers on defense.  The Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team (4-4) lost to Gulliver 12-10. Noah Markofsky led the way with 5 goals, Jack Finvarb had 2 goals and an assist, Dylan Turk added 2 goals, Romain Vinois scored, and Paul Clifford made 21 saves. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (5-4) lost to Carrollton 4-3. Gabrielle Bassette and Lucia Burton won their singles matches, and Lucia and Brooke Kovacs won their doubles match. The Middle School Water Polo Team (1-3) lost to Ransom Everglades 10-8. Justin Claramonte led the way with 14 saves, 3 steals, and an assist, Leo Niemeyer had 10 saves, 2 steals, and 2 assists, Evan Miller had 5 goals and 2 assists, Hendrix Lee added 2 goals and an assist, Jashan Singh scored, lenis altos had 2 assists, and Harry Florin added 3 assists.
     
    Today.....The Softball Team hosts Somerset Homestead at 3pm.
     
    On Wednesday.....The Middle School Baseball Team hosts Doctors Charter at 4pm.

Sierra Rosen, Talia Kurlandski, Natalia Torres, Natalia Marquez, and Angelina Belin all won their singles matches, and Maria Lolo Lopez and Natalia Torres, and Natalia Marquez and Angelina Belin won their doubles matches. The Boys Middle School Tennis Team (3-4) lost to Westminster Christian 4-3. The Varsity Baseball Team (0-4) lost to Ransom Everglades 16-5. Eric Germeus scored 2 runs, and Jake Wyka doubled and scored.
     
    On Saturday......The Boys Varsity Water Polo Team (5-10) lost to Olympia 15-6, but beat Hialeah Gardens 11-9, and West Orange in overtime 7-6. Nico Dunn led the way with 7 goals, an assist, and 6 steals, Edoardo Figari had 4 goals, 3 assists, and 4 steals, Riccardo Di Giuseppe added 5 goals, an assist, 11 steals, and 17 saves, Felipe Blaya made 7 saves, Michael Bernstein had 3 goals, 5 assists, and 2 steals, Ilan Zenatti and Luca Grendene each scored 2 goals, and Kenneth Barrett and Jake Grossman each had an assist. The Girls Varsity Water Polo Team (9-5) lost to Dr. Phillips 11-7, lost to Gulliver 17-3, and lost to Suncoast 6-3. Sofia Guarini led the way with 26 saves and 6 steals, Sabrina Morata had 4 goals, 6 steals, and 3 assists, Tatiana Blasky had 3 goals and 2 steals, Isabella Stripling Serrano added 3 goals and 3 steals, Chloe Cartledge had 2 goals an assist, and 2 steals, and Zeina Bazzi added a goal. The Boys Middle School Lacrosse Team (4-2) lost to Ransom Everglades 5-3, and beat Westminster Christian 9-3. In game 1, James Deering led the way with a goal and an assist, Evan Hurwitz and Alex Mendelson each scored, and Rainen O’Kurley made 7 saves. In game 2, Evan Hurwitz and James Deering each had 3 goals and an assist, Josh Harris added 2 goals, Alec Miller and Marcus Papunen each scored, and Beck Trafton added an assist. The Middle School Baseball Team (0-5) lost to Marathon 17-2 and 7-6. In game 1, Hansel Ramirez was 2 for 2, doubled, drove in a run, and scored, Tanner Sennett drove in a run, and Sam Greenwald threw 2 innings, striking out 2 and allowed 1 run. In game 2, Parker Zaron was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, Hansel Ramirez was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, Avery Sinnes was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, and threw 3 innings with 5 strikeouts, Noah Tran was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored, and Tanner Sennett was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.
     
    Today......The Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team hosts Westminster Christian at 4:30pm, the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team travels to Gulliver at 4pm, the Middle School Water Polo Team travels to Ransom Everglades at 5pm, and the Girls Varsity Tennis Team travels to Carrollton at 3:30pm.

The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (0-6) lost to Ransom Everglades 4-3.  Morgan Weisberg and Max Castanon won their singles matches, and Morgan and Jackson Halliwell won their doubles match.
     
    Today......Winter Sports Awards Ceremony....... Our Winter Sports Awards Ceremony will take place this evening at 6:30pm.  We are asking everyone to report to the rooms listed below for individual and team recognition, as well as special awards.  This ceremony should only last about 30-45 minutes, so please join us in celebrating the outstanding accomplishments our of Winter student-athletes and coaches.

Scout Hudson, Ginger Jacob, and Maria Lola Lopez all won their singles matches, and Sierra Rosen and Talia Kurlandski won their doubles matches.     In Friday’s Athletic Events.....The Boys Middle School Tennis Team (3-2) beat Riviera Prep 7-0. Antonio Moura, Oscar Bergier, Juan de Zabala, Michael Claramonte, and Lucas Bacardi all won their singles matches, and Antonio and Juan, Maverick Jacob and August Bicknell won their doubles matches. The Girls Middle School Tennis Team (4-2) beat Riviera Prep 7-0. Ginger Jacob, Sierra Rosen, Maria Lola Lopez, Natalia Torres, and Remi Rosenfeld all won their singles matches, and Ginger and Sierra, Talia Kurlandski and Natalia Marquez won their doubles matches.  The Varsity Baseball Team (0-2) lost to Marathon 3-0.     In Wednesday’s Athletic Action.....The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (3-2) beat Oxbridge Academy 6-0. Allexii Bassette, Gabrielle Bassette, Lucia Burton, Brooke Kovacs, and Nina Vara won their singles matches, and Lucia and Allexii won their doubles match. The Boys Varsity Tennis match against Oxbridge Academy was postponed due to rain tied 2-2.  Morgan Weisberg and Luca Donayre won their singles matches. The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (21-10) lost to Master’s Academy in the State Semifinals in overtime 76-70.  Sydney Shaw led the way with 16 points, Milani McCormack had 15 points, and Olivia Delancy added 14 points.  Congratulations to the girls and coaches on an outstanding season. The Varsity Baseball game against Ransom Everglades was postponed due to rain.

    In Wednesday’s Athletic Events.....The Boys Varsity Soccer Team(14-9-1) lost to University School in the Regional Finals (#3 in the state and #7 nationally) 1-0.  The entire team played incredible the entire game......and a special congratulations to all of our coaches and players on an outstanding season.  This team has won three District Championships and has advanced to the Regional Finals three of the past four years.  TheGirls Varsity Lacrosse Team (0-1) lost to North Broward Prep 13-6. Sophia Agurcia led the way with 3 goals and 6 ground balls, Rachel Hodes scored on an assist from Madelyn Pelletier, and Camila Serrano and Nina Le Troadec each scored.

    In Friday’s Athletic Events.....The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (13-12) beat Divine Savior in the District Championship game 82-64. Jordan Cooke led the way with 31 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, Ryan Richardson had 12 points and 14 rebounds, Jasai Miles added 13 points and 6 rebounds, Ryan Mendelson had 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Marc Wendrow added 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5assists.  A special congratulations to Jordan Cooke, as he scored his 1000th point during Thursday’s semifinal game against Hialeah Educational Academy. .  The boys will host Florida Christian in the Regional Quarterfinals on Thursday at 7pm.  The Girls Varsity Soccer Team (7-10) lost to Palmer-Trinity in the Regional Semifinals.  The entire team played extremely well........congratulations to the girls and coaches on a great season, which included their 8th consecutive district championship.
     
    On Saturday.......The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (14-8-1) beat LaSalle in the Regional Semifinals in penalty kicks 2-2, 4-3.  Erik Pantin and Victor Destri each scored in regulation, Ethan White, Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet, Lucas Crespo, Gerardo Pantin Escudero, Alejandro Roye Frangie, and Chris Capote all played well, Victor Destri, Alejandro Roye Frangie, and Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet all scored on their penalty kicks, and Lukas Iera made the final kick for the game-winner. The boys will travel to University School on Wednesday in the Regional Finals at 7pm.

The girls will host St. Andrews in the Regional Semifinals on Tuesday at 7pm. The Girls Varsity Tennis Team (2-0) beat Vero Beach 5-2. Allexii Bassette, Gabrielle Bassette, Gabriela Martinez, and Brooke Kovacs all won their singles matches, and Morgan Dent and Brooke Kovacs won their doubles match.  The Boys Varsity Tennis Team (0-2) lost to Vero Beach High School 7-0. Josef Frenkel and Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet each scored, Chris Capote made 6 saves, and Erik Pantin, Ethan White, Rafael Urbina, Gerardo Pantin Escudero, and Lucas Crespo all played well.  The boys will travel to LaSalle on Saturday at 7pm in the Regional Semifinals.  The Boys Varsity Basketball Team(12-12) beat Hialeah Educational in the District Semifinals 86-51. Ryan Richardson led the way with 17 points and 3 rebounds, Jasai Miles had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Ryan Mendelson added 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Jordan Cooke had 12 points and 5 assists.  The boys play Divine Savior in the District Championship on Friday at 7pm.   Girls Middle School Tennis Team (1-0) beat Carrollton 5-2. Scout Hudson, Ginger Jacob, Sierra Rosen, and Natalia Torres won their singles matches, and Scout and Ginger won their doubles match.

    In Tuesday’s Athletic Action.... Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer Team (7-9). Through an incredible team effort, the girls beat Westminster Christian in overtime 2-1.  Down 1-0 with 2 minutes left, Aly Rodriguez scored to send the game into overtime.  In overtime, Aly scored her second goal on a direct kick in from 30 yards out.  Sofia Benenson was the star in goal with 14 saves, and seniors Becky Bibas and Taisa Strouse played their hearts out in helping lead this young team to the second round of Regionals.  Congratulations to Sofia Nelcha, Logan Sennett, Cristina Hernandez, Mila Crespo, Mary Hanson, Mia Batista, Lucia Arcila, Remi Rosenfeld, Leah Ogulnick, Anabelle Shiff, Lauren White, Natalia Pantin Escudero, Ariana Clarke, and Senna Trafton who all made outstanding contributions to help our Spartans win.  The Girls will now host the Regional Finals on Friday vs. Palmer-Trinity at 7pm.

    Next Week......Next week is an exciting week for Miami Country Day School Athletics.  The Girls Varsity Soccer Team (District Champions) hosts the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7pm, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team (District Champions) hosts the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7pm, the Girls Varsity Basketball Team (who is favored to win the District Championship this evening) will host the Regional Quarterfinals on Thursday at 7pm, and the Boys Varsity Basketball Team competes in Districts at SLAM Academy on Wednesday at 5pm (District Semifinals), and Friday at 7pm (District Championship).  Please come out and support our Spartan Teams.  Each team hosting a Regional game are three wins away from the State Final Four, and five wins from a State Championship.  (See attached flier for our “Games of the Week”).

    Senior Signing Ceremony..... Congratulations to Rianna Washington who signed with Mount Holyoke College to play volleyball and Griffin Steutel who signed with Oglethorpe University to play golf.  We are so proud.....congrats to both on this great accomplishment.
    Rianna Washington-Mount Holyoke College
    Rianna Washington has been a part of the Spartan Volleyball program for seven years.  She has been on the varsity team for the last three years.  During her sophomore and junior seasons, she had 222 kills to go along with 122 blocks.  Rianna was selected All-County Honorable Mention by the Miami Herald during these seasons while adding a District Championship in 2018.  A quote from Coach Eric Rivera “Rianna is a student-athlete of great qualities both on and off the court.  She is destined to be a great athlete but above all, a great human being that will make a difference in our society.” 
    Griffin Steutel-Oglethorpe University
    Griffin Steutel has been an important member of the Spartan Golf team for six years.  His past two seasons have been impressive resulting in two District Championships, two appearances at the state tournament, a South Florida PGA Championship and back to back First Team All-County selections by the Miami Herald.  From his head Coach Bryan Parizo “To say that Griffin will be missed is an understatement.  He has been an integral part of the golf team since he joined in seventh grade.  Oglethorpe will be a getting a terrific golfer but more important an outstanding person.” 
    In Wednesday’s Athletic Action.....The Girls Varsity Basketball Team(17-9) beat Ransom Everglades in the District Semifinals 71-19.  Andrea Daley led the way with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists, Khadee Hession had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, Kayla Nelms added 8 points and 8 rebounds, Gianna Corbitt had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, and Emani Theodule had 8 points and 6 steals. The Girls host Carrollton in the District Championship on Friday at 7pm. The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team (15-5) beat Palm Glades Prep Academy in their season finale 71-50.  Yusef Bahhur led the way with 8 points and Cody Halliwell had 6 points. Congratulations to the coaches and players on a great season. The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (11-12) beat Palm Glades Prep Academy in their regular season finale 88-58.  Ryan Richardson led the way with 29 points and 5 rebounds, Ryan Mendelson had 22 points and 3 rebounds, Izzy Kohen added 20 points and 3 steals, and Marc Wendrow had 12 assists.  The Boys participate in Districts next Wednesday at SLAM Academy at 5pm.

The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team (12-3) beat Hillel 71-55.  Lukas Peterson led the way with 21 points, Torrence Mack had 18 points, and Dhillon Murphy added 10 points. The Girls Middle School Soccer Team (5-12) beat Florida Christian in the semifinals of the consolation bracket 2-0. Ariana Clarke scored both goals, Sara Bhakta had 2 assists, Maya Tafur recorded the shutout, and Maggie Houser, Senna Trafton, Brianna Dunn, Zoe Grondin, Sofia Sharam, and Maryam Rassif all played well. The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (8-8-1) lost to North Broward Prep in the Palm League Championship game 5-0.   • Tuesday, January 14,2020:

    In Friday’s Athletic Events.....The Girls Middle School Basketball Team (12-0) beat Florida Christian 49-15.  Ella Gilderman led the way with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists, Jada Johnson had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals, and 6 assists, Kaliyah Morales added 7 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 7 assists, Julia Green had 8 points and 2 steals, and Sophia Frank and Alexia Peristeris each had 4 points. The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (7-7) beat Sagemont 8-0. Erik Pantin led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists, Alejandro Roye Frangie, Josef Frenkel, Julian Kahan, Stefano Dumas, Victor Destri, and Chris Capote all scored, and Joseph Bassett and Lucas Hansen combined for the shutout.  The Boys Middle School (Varsity) Basketball Team (6-6) beat Florida Christian 38-27. Josh Harris led the way with 21 points and 12 rebounds, Evan Hurwitz had 4 points, 6 assists, and 10 rebounds, Adrian Atoa added 4 points, 3 steals, and 5 assists, Matthew Finvarb scored 4 points, and Alec Miller grabbed 8 rebounds.  The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (9-8) lost St. Thomas Aquinas 55-45. Gianna Corbitt led the way with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists, Milani McCormack had 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Sydney Shaw added 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists.
     
    On Saturday....... The Boys Middle School (JV) Basketball Team (5-6) hosted the Spartan Invitational.  They beat True North Academy 35-14, lost to Palmer-Trinity 44-18, beat Cushman 31-23, and lost to Palmer-Trinity in the championship game 26-11. In game 1, Asher Evans led the way with 12 points and 3 rebounds, Alexander Ben-Shmuel had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals, Avery Sinnes grabbed 7 rebounds, Massimo Vega had 5 rebounds and 2 points and Parker Zaron had 6 points and 2 steals. In game 2, Asher Evans had 5 points and 5 rebounds, Alexander Ben-Shmuel had 4 points and 3 rebounds, Jashan Singh grabbed 3 rebounds, Massimo Vega had 3 rebounds, Colin Freeman and Parker Zaron each scored 3 points, and Carson Goodman had 2 points. In game 3, David Bejar led the way with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks, Matthew Williamson had 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, Massimo Vega added 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Julian Mellado and Jashan Singh each had 2 points. In the championship game, Parker Zaron had 5 points, Colin Freeman added 2 points, and Jashan Singh and David Bejar each had 2 points and 4 rebounds. The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (10-8) beat IMG Academy 69-47. Andrea Daley led the way with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, Gianna Borbitt had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists, Sydney Shaw added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists, and Emani Theodule had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists. The Girls Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer, Boys Junior Varsity Basketball, and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams participated in their annual service project at Feeding South Florida.
     
    Today.....The Boys Varsity Soccer Team hosts LaSalle at 3:30pm, the Girls Varsity Soccer Team travels to University School at 6pm, the Boys Middle School (Varsity) Basketball Team hosts Westwood Christian at 3:30pm, and the Boys Varsity Basketball Team hosts Westwood Christian at 5pm.
     
    On Tuesday.....The Girls and Boys Middle School Soccer Teams host Cushman at 4/5:30pm, and the Boys Junior Varsity, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams travel to Benjamin at 4/5:30/7pm.

Jasai Miles led the way with 21 points and 12 rebounds, Jordan Cooke had 23 points and 3 steals, Ryan Richardson added 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Marc Wendrow had 7 assists. The Boys Middle School (Varsity) Basketball Team (7-6) beat Westwood Christian 41-4. Matthew Finvarb led the way with 8 points, Josh Harris had 8 points and 5 rebounds, Alex Mendelson added 6 points, Justin Williams had 5 points, Tanner Sennett grabbed 5 rebounds, and Hendrix Lee had 4 rebounds.  The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (7-7-1) tied LaSalle 2-2. Victor Destri and Erik Pantin each scored, Chris Capote made 8 saves, and Alejandro Roye Frangie, Lucas Crespo, Lucas Hansen, Ethan White, and Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet all played well.  The Girls Varsity Soccer Team (3-8) lost to University School 2-1. Sofia Nelcha, Mary Hanson, and Taisa Strouse all played well.
     
    On Tuesday.....The Girls and Boys Middle School Soccer Teams host Cushman at 4/5:30pm, and the Boys Junior Varsity, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams travel to Benjamin at 4/5:30/7pm.
     
    On Wednesday....The Girls Varsity Soccer Team plays Benjamin at Oxbridge Academy in the Palm League Championships at 3:30pm, the Boys Varsity Soccer Team hosts Divine Savior Academy in our “Spartan pride” Game of the Week at 7pm, the Girls and Boys Middle School Soccer Teams host South Florida Heat at 3:30/5pm, and the Girls Middle School, Boys Middle School (JV and Varsity) Basketball Teams travel to Riviera Prep at 3/4/5pm.

    In Thursday’s Athletic Update.....The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (9-7) beat Pine Crest 62-16.  Andrea Daley led the way with 10 points, 2 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists, Khadee Hession added 10 points and 3 steals, and Sydney Shaw had 8 points, 4 steals, and 4 assists.  The Boys Middle School Soccer Team (10-4) beat Riviera Prep 3-2. Diego Rodriguez led the way with 2 goals and an assist, Dylan Meyer scored, Jhonny Mercado and Oscar Bergier added assists, and Henrique Markman, Lukas Hoerman, Gregory Meyer, Pedro Henrique Periera, and Max Manhire all played well. The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team (9-2) lost to Pine Crest 58-41.  Dhillon Murphy led the way with 20 points. The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (7-5) lost to Pine Crest 54-52. Jordan Cooke led the way with 12 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds, Jasai Miles had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Marc Wendrow added 10 points, and Ryan Mendelson had 9 points.

    In Wednesday’s Athletic Update....... The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (6-7) beat Pine Crest 3-1.  Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet, Gerardo Pantin Escudero, and Erik Pantin all scored, Lucas Hansen, Lucas Crespo, and Alejandro Roye Frangie all played well, and Chris Capote made 5 saves. The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (7-4) received a forfeit from International Studies.  The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team (9-1) beat Don Soffer Aventura 53-37.  Josh Finvarb led the way with 15 points. The Girls Varsity Soccer Team (3-7) lost to Pine Crest 3-2. Mia Batista and Lucia Arcila each scored, and Aly Rodriguez had an assist. The Boys Middle School Soccer Team (9-4) lost to Ransom Everglades 6-1. Jhonny Mercado scored, and Diego Corigliano and Gregory Meyer each played well.  The Girls Middle School Soccer Team (3-11) lost to Ransom Everglades 5-0. Maya Tafur made 7 saves, and Maggie Houser and Zoe Grondin each played well.
     
    Today.....The Boys Middle School Soccer Team hosts Riviera Prep at 5:30pm, and in are “Games of the Week” the Boys Junior Varsity, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams all host Pine Crest at 4:30/6/7:30pm.  Please wear red and come out and support our Spartans.

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team (5-7) lost to Edison 1-0. Chris Capote led the way with 7 saves, and Erik Pantin, Stefano Dumas, Lucas Hansen, Lucas Crespo, Enzo Lagrassa-Gillet, and Rafael Urbina all played well.
     
    Today.......The Girls Middle School Soccer Team hosts Ransom Everglades at 4pm, the Boys Middle School Soccer Team travels to Ransom Everglades at 4pm, the Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Teams travel to Pine Crest at 4:30/6pm and the Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Team hosts Don Soffer Aventura High School at 6pm. The Boys Varsity Basketball game against International Studies has been cancelled due to their lack of available transportation.

    In the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix........The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (5-5) lost to Archbishop Mitty (CA) 58-57, lost to Beaverton (OR) 47-40, beat Garfield (WA) 59-32, and lost to Millennium (AZ) 47-44. In game 1, Andrea Daley led the way with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists, Sydney Shaw had 13 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds, and Gianna Corbitt had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 steals, and 3 assists. In game 2, Sydney Shaw had 14 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds, and Andrea Daley added 9 points and 8 rebounds. In game 3, Milani McCormack led the way with 14 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds, Sydney Shaw had 10 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds, Gianna Corbitt added 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks, Andrea Daley had 7 points and 7 rebounds, and Olivia Delancy had 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. In game 4, Sydney Shaw had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, Gianna Corbitt had 10 points and 4 rebounds, Andrea Daley added 8 points and 6 rebounds, and Emani Teodule had 8 points and 3 rebounds.
     
    In the Girls Basketball Tournament in Naples......The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (6-7) beat Bishop Guertin 70-49, but lost to Ensworth 56-55, and Fayetteville 53-42. In game 1, Andrea Daley led the way with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals, Kristina Godfrey had 11 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals, Sydney Shaw added 10 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists, Gianna Corbitt had 9 points and 9 rebounds, and Milani McCormick had 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. In game 2, Sydney Shaw had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 5 assists, Andrea Daley added 14 points and 5 rebounds, Kristina Godfrey had 11 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals, and Emani Theodule had 9 points and 2 steals. In game 3, Sydney Shaw led the way with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, Andrea Daley had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Chantell Gonzalez had 5 points and 3 rebounds.
     
    In the Girls Basketball New Year’s Classic in Coral Springs......The Girls Varsity Basketball Team (8-7) beat Miami High 50-33, and Montini Catholic 59-36.  .  In game 1, Andrea Daley led the way with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, Gianna Corbitt had 8 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists, Kristina Godfrey had 8 points, Emani Theodule added 7 points and 2 assists, and Sydney Shaw had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. In game 2, Andrea Daley led the way with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists, Milani McCormack had 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 steals, Gianna Corbitt added 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Sydney Shaw had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
     
    In the Boys Basketball Tournament at North Broward Prep......The Boys Varsity Basketball Team (6-4) lost to Lake Mary Prep 77-59, beat Lehman High School in overtime 79-78, and lost to Orangewood Christian 74-68. In game 1, Jordan Cooke led the way with 23 points and Ryan Richardson had 7 points and 4 rebounds.  In game 2, Jordan Cooke had 31 points, 4 steals, and 2 assists, Ryan Richardson added 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Ryan Mendelson had 13 points and 7 assists. In game 3, Jordan Cooke had 20 points and 5 assists, and Jasai Miles added 19 points and 8 rebounds.
