More Than Fitness

At Miami Country Day School, we believe wellness is an essential part of student growth and success. Wellness is more than physical fitness—it is the ability to care for one’s physical, emotional, and social well-being in ways that support a healthy, balanced, and fulfilling life.

As part of the Center for Academic Success & Well-Being, the Wellness Department helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and habits that contribute to lifelong health and well-being. Through intentional instruction and meaningful experiences, students learn how movement, self-care, healthy relationships, resilience, and personal responsibility all contribute to their overall wellness.

Educating the Whole Child

Our transformation from a traditional Physical Education Department to a Wellness Department reflects a broader commitment to educating the whole child. By integrating physical fitness, mental wellness, social-emotional learning, and personal development, we help students better understand themselves, care for their well-being, and make informed choices that support healthy lifestyles.

Grounded in the belief that students thrive emotionally, physically, and socially when they experience fitness, play, community, and self-care, the Wellness Department creates opportunities for students to build confidence, develop healthy habits, and strengthen the skills they will carry throughout their lives.

Working alongside counselors, faculty, and families, the Wellness Department reinforces the conversations, practices, and experiences that help students navigate challenges, build strong relationships, and develop lifelong habits of well-being.
