Divisional Webinars

As announced, Miami Country Day School will return to learning using an online schedule on August 24. There were three divisional webinars devoted entirely to the remote online learning program. If you were unable to attend, below you will find a summary from each meeting as well as a link to the webinar recording.

LOWER SCHOOL

In the Lower School, we have worked hard over the summer to design an educational experience that values every student, every day.  As always, we have prioritized our students by closely examining developmental practices. These where some of the topics we discussed:
  • Schedule update and details
  • Small group academics
  • Highly engaging project-based learning units
  • Reducing the clicks
  • Focus on building relationships
  • Prioritize student interaction
Schedules are consistent across the Lower School and across grades. There is a consistent start time, at 9:00 am each day. Enrichments including, Spanish, Music, Art, ACES, and PE will be delivered live. The week of August 10th, class placements will be available on your MyCountryDay Parent Portal

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Based upon input from parents, teachers, and students about the remote experience last spring, we have worked hard  to incorporate many of those suggestions such as:
  • Schedule update and details
  • More social activities and interactions
  • Less extension work where students are on their own to complete schoolwork
  • More 1:1 opportunities with teachers
  • More engaging/interactive remote classes
  • 6th grade orientation to Middle School

  • Community Time has been built into the schedule
  • College Counselling for all Upper School students and additional time and support
  • Prioritizing building relationships

It remains our priority to ensure that all our students receive the highest caliber of academic learning this fall while still considering the safety of our entire Spartan community. As a school, we acknowledge that we all ideally would like to be on campus, and we hope that happens soon!  We are optimistic that we can bring students back to campus on September 14, and we will make that decision on August 31st. Parents will be repolled about their preference when the decision to go on- campus hybrid is announced.

As a reminder, please join us for a school-wide financial webinar on Wednesday, 8/12. More details will be provided shortly.
