In Tuesday’s Athletic Action.... Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer Team (7-9). Through an incredible team effort, the girls beat Westminster Christian in overtime 2-1.  Down 1-0 with 2 minutes left, Aly Rodriguez scored to send the game into overtime.  In overtime, Aly scored her second goal on a direct kick in from 30 yards out.  Sofia Benenson was the star in goal with 14 saves, and seniors Becky Bibas and Taisa Strouse played their hearts out in helping lead this young team to the second round of Regionals.  Congratulations to Sofia Nelcha, Logan Sennett, Cristina Hernandez, Mila Crespo, Mary Hanson, Mia Batista, Lucia Arcila, Remi Rosenfeld, Leah Ogulnick, Anabelle Shiff, Lauren White, Natalia Pantin Escudero, Ariana Clarke, and Senna Trafton who all made outstanding contributions to help our Spartans win.  The Girls will now host the Regional Finals on Friday vs. Palmer-Trinity at 7pm. 
 
Today......The Boys Varsity Soccer Team hosts Palmer-Trinity in the Regional Quarterfinals at 7pm, the Boys Varsity Basketball Team competes in Districts at SLAM Academy vs. Hialeah Educational Academy at 5pm, and the Girls Middle School Tennis Team travels to Carrollton (Crandon Park) at 3:30pm.  
 
On Thursday.......The Girls Varsity Basketball Team hosts Florida Christian in the Regional Quarterfinals at 7pm, the Girls and Boys Varsity Tennis Teams travel to Vero Beach at 2:30pm, and the Varsity Baseball Team hosts a Pre-Season Tournament at 4/7pm (Krop vs. Hialeah Miami-Lakes at 4pm, MCDS vs. American High School at 7pm.)
 
All School T-Shirt Contest...... Show your Spartan Spirit by entering the ALL SCHOOL Spring Fling T-Shirt design competition! All entries are due to Mr. Sennett in his office in the SAC or via email on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21. Voting for the best design will take place on Tuesday, February 25, and everyone in the whole school will get a free shirt with the winning design.  Cool, right?!? Your design must be 8x11 and only one color.  The shirts will be red and the words and design will be in white, so keep that in mind. Designs should show as much Spartan Spirit as possible and include the word “Spartan” or the Spartan logo.  It must be appropriate for Spartans of all ages. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
