Walk the Walk

On Tuesday, Miami Country Day "Walk the Walk" for Cancer Chairs and Co-Chairs were guests at the Miami Shores Village Council meeting. At the meeting, Mayor Crystal Wagar and the Miami Shores Village Council presented a Proclamation thanking  Miami Country Day School and it students for volunteering their time to help educate their community on cancer awareness while raising money for research. The annual Walk the Walk for Cancer, Miami Country Day School’s school-wide community service event, started in 1999 and has raised over $750,000 toward cancer research.  This year’s event raised $60,000 and those funds will be donated to Alex’s Place for Pediatric Cancer Research and to the Sylvester Center for Cancer Research.

A special thanks to “Walk the Walk” Chairs Hannah A., Anika B., Ellie C., Hanna C., Stevie Port, Francesca S., Co-Chairs;  and Co-Chairs Jack L., Natalia S., and Nate G. for attending Tuesday’s meeting and for their hard work and dedication to this cause.
