As part of the electricity unit in Mrs. Puro’s 4th grade class, students spent time tinkering in the Garner Innovation Center to take apart computer monitors and printers.
Questions were generated - “How does a printer work on the inside with all of the circuits?”, and “How can you take apart the printer and then put it back together?” Answers were discovered – “Circuits connect what you see on the outside to all the parts on the inside” and “It works better as a team to take it apart.” Next up - the students will use pieces from the printer, keyboards, screens and other devices to create something new applying their knowledge of circuits and energy.
