Please see each Winter sport listed below for practice start dates and coaching information. All game and practice schedules will be posted on the Miami Country Day School athletic website at www.miamicountryday.org.  
 
Prior to the first day of practice, all student-athletes must have a completed physical and all proper FHSAA paperwork (EL2 and EL3) uploaded electronically to Magnus Health, which is accessed from your ‘My Country Day Account.’ Any questions regarding the athletic forms can be directed to the Athletic Trainers:  Michelle Cordero at corderom@miamicountryday.org , or Anthony Reyes reyesa@miamicountryday.org ,or the athletic office at x250 for more information. 
 
Boys Varsity Soccer
Boys Varsity Soccer is for student-athletes in grades 9-12.  Tryouts begin on Monday, October 22.  Please contact Mr. Jeff Watson at watsonj@miamicountryday.org or the athletic office at 305-779-7250 for more information.
 
Boys Middle School Soccer

In Tuesday’s Athletic Action….. The Girls Cross Country Team (23-0) won impressively finishing 1st of 11 teams. The girls were led by Lauren McGaffic (2nd overall), Rachel Hodes (6th  with a PR of 21:11), Bella Smilowitz (13th with a PR of 22:36), Cristina Hernandez (16th), Brooke Nieder (17th), Estella Dunham (20th), Briana Espinosa (21th), and Senior Captain Isabella Allen (25th). The Boys Varsity Cross Country Team (13-11) finished 8th of 11 teams.   The boys were led by Carter McGaffic, Cru Givens, Davis Lubetsky, Marcos Melado, Josh LeHockey, Josef Frenkel, and Raffaello Bruni. In the South Florida Middle School Cross Country Championships at Larry Penny Thompson Park the Middle School Girls were led by Mallory McDonald, who medaled in 5th place.  The Middle School Boys Team finished 3rd overall with Julian Melado medaling in 10th place. Tyler Sastre, Ryder Rosenberg, and Nicolas Perez also had great races.  The results of the Middle School Swim meet against Gulliver will be in Tuesday’s update.  The Varsity Volleyball Team (13-11) beat Hillel in the District Semifinals 25-22, 25-10, 25-14.  Ashley Michelin led the way with 14 service points, 7 aces, and 20 assists, Carolina Ortegon had 8 kills and 4 service points, Madeline Sukhdeo added 14 service points, 4 aces, and 6 digs, Francesca Malo had 6 digs, 3 service points, and 2 aces, and Rianna Washington added 6 kills. 
 
In Today’s Action…..there are no athletic events scheduled for today. 
 
Homecoming Football Game/Parents’ Association BBQ…….. Come show your Spartan Spirit and Pride as we celebrate Homecoming and honor our senior athletes at the MCDS Homecoming game on Thursday, October 18. The game begins at 7pm, but join the Parents’ Association for tailgate fun and a community BBQ from 4pm- 9pm. Spartan fan gear will be for sale, so come join us for this community wide event and cheer your Spartans on to victory!
