Homecoming Football Game/Parents’ Association BBQ…….. Come show your Spartan Spirit and Pride as we celebrate Homecoming and honor our senior athletes at the MCDS Homecoming game on Thursday, October 18. The game begins at 7pm, but join the Parents’ Association for tailgate fun and a community BBQ from 4pm- 9pm. Spartan fan gear will be for sale, so come join us for this community wide event and cheer your Spartans on to victory! 
 
WALK THE WALK…….. Please join us on Saturday, October 20th for our MCDS WALK THE WALK.  The largest all school community service. To make a donation to GoFundMe click on https://www.gofundme.com/the-heidi-hewes-walk-for-cancer and To Register, click here

Late Thursday…….The Girls Swim Team (7-5) beat Riviera Prep 174-59, and the Boys Varsity Swim Team (6-5) beat Riviera Prep 134-91.

In Friday’s Action……The Middle School (Varsity) Volleyball Team (19-3) beat Riviera Prep in the South Florida Middle School Conference Quarterfinals 25-4, 25-9.  Isabella Urbina led the way with 4 aces and 4 kills, Mia Finvarb had 4 aces and 4 digs, Bella Bros added 3 aces, 2 kills, and 4 digs, Tiana Tolles had 3 kills and 4 digs, Sienna Rosenberg had 6 assists, and Isabella Possin added 5 assists.  The Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams ran at 305 Classic Invitational at Larry Penny Thompson Park. The Girls Varsity Team finished 6th and were led by Lauren McGaffic (6th place), Cristina Hernandez, Bella Allen, Anastasija Moskvina, Briana Espinosa, Estella Dunham, and Klara Meyer.  The JV Girls Team finished 3rd and were led Jordan Horn (11th place), Sofia Cabracos, Maria Silva, Maya Bassan and Maddie McDonald. The Boys Varsity Team finished 18th and were led by Carter McGaffic, Cru Givens, Davis Lubestsky, Marcos Mellado, Josh LeHockey, Josef Frenkel, and Josh Ader.   The JV Boys finished 13th and were led by Ethan Babil, Julian Melado, Tyler Sastre, Larenzo Marzilli, and Shiwon Kang.  The Golf Team (10-0) beat SLAM and Divine Savior by shooting a 160.  Griffin Steutel led the way with a 36, Quinn Walker shot a 39, and Jaden Russell had a 41.  The Varsity Volleyball Team (12-11) beat North Broward Prep (25-21, 26-24), but lost to Kings Academy 25-18, 25-21. Ashley Michelin combined for 26 assists, 11 service points, 4 aces, and 7 digs, Rianna Washington had 12 kills and 4 blocks, Francesca Malo added 16 receptions, 7 service points, and 3 aces, Eva Sirlin had 9 receptions and 7 digs, Carolina Ortegon had 5 kills and 2 blocks, Madeline Sukhdeo had 6 receptions and 4 digs, and Taylor Lynott added 7 receptions, 4 kills, and 4 digs. 
 
On Saturday….The Girls Middle School (Varsity) Volleyball Team (21-3) beat Divine Savior in the South Florida Middle School Conference Championships 25-21, 25-15, and beat Ransom Everglades in the championship game 26-24, 20-25, 18-16.  In game 1, Bella Brod and Natalia Pantin Escudero each had 5 kills, Tiana Tolles had 5 kills and 2 digs, Sienna Rosenberg and Isabella Possin each had 4 assists, and Sophia Arcila had 2 aces and 5 digs. In the championship game, Sophia Arcila led the way with 10 digs, Isabella Urbina had 4 aces and 3 kills, Bella Brod added 3 aces, 3 kills, and 3 digs, Sophia Rosenberg had 5 assists, and Tiana Tolles added 5 kills and 4 digs.  The Junior Varsity Volleyball Team (14-7) hosted the Spartan Invitational.  They beat Palmer-Trinity in game one 25-21, 25-21, beat Florida Christian in game two 25-20, 25-18, but lost to LaSalle in the championship game 25-23, 25-20.  Simone Hart led the way with 24 service points, 23 assists, and 14 digs, Arielle Germeus had 11 service points, 7 kills, and 5 digs, Morgan Loeb added 9 service points, 7 digs, and 8 kills, and Emma Zelkowitz had 11 service points, 8 kills, 7 assists, and 6 digs.   
 
On Monday……The Golf Team (10-0) shot a 297 to win the District Championship.  Quinn Walker led the way with a 70, Matthew Yamin shot a 72, Griffin Steutel added a 73, TJ Mack had an 82, Jaden Russell shot an 84, and Sabrina Cabarcos shot an 88. 
 
Today…The Girls and Boys Middle School Swim Teams host Ransom Everglades at 5:30pm, the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams host a meet at Greynolds Park at 4pm, the Girls and Boys Middle School Cross Country Teams participate in the South Florida Middle School Championships at Larry Penny Thompson Park at 4:30/5pm, and the Varsity Volleyball Team travels to Sagemont to play Hillel in the District Semifinals at 7pm.
