Tuesday, October 2, 2018:

In Friday’s Athletic Action….The Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams traveled to Lakeland to participate in the Florida Runners Invitational. The Girls Varsity Cross Country finished 4th and were led by Lauren McGaffic (3rd place overall), Rachel Hodes (25th place), Bella Smilowitz, Cristina Hernandez, Brooke Nieder, Estella Dunham, and Briana Espinosa. The JV Girls team finished in 3rd place and were led Bella Allen (7th place), Taisa Strouse, Anastasija Moskvina, Klara Meyer, and Ebba Larnholt.  The Boys Varsity Cross Country team finished 34th and were led by Carter McGaffic, Cru Givens, Josh LeHockey, Davis Lubestsky, and Ryder Rosenberg.   The JV Boys finished in 13th place and were led by Josh Ader, Nicky Perez, Marcos Mellado, Tyler Sastre, Alex Mendelson, and Merritt Lubestsky.
 
On Saturday……The Boys Golf Team participated in the South Florida PGA Golf Tournament at the Polo Club.  Congratulations to Griffin Steutel who won the tournament by shooting a 2-day score of 138.  The Girls Middle School (JV) Volleyball Team (13-4) hosted the Spartan Invitational and beat Florida Christian 25-19, 25-11, beat Divine Savior 25-21, 25-8, but lost to Ransom Everglades in the championship game 25-22, 25-12.  Lucia Cartolano led the way with 25 service points, 12 aces, and 9 kills, Chiara Moura had 16 service points, 7 aces, and 11 kills, and Bianca Malatesta had 22 assists and 7 kills
 Late Thursday…..The Girls Varsity Swim Team (6-4) beat ATM 100-71, but lost to Miami Beach High 103-86.  The Boys Varsity Swim Team (5-4) lost to ATM 100-69, and lost to Miami Beach High 103-76. 
The Spartans were led by
Girls 200 Medley Relay – Won the event with their best time of the season 1:41.45
            Sabrina Morata (9), Tamara Bhardwaj (9), Chloe Cartledge (9), Madison Castro (8)
Boys 200 Medley Relay – Came in second overall with their best time of the season 1:52.53
            Ilan Zenatti (10), Dylan Smiley (8), Jack Rodriguez (11), Ricky Stamatis (12)
Boys 200 Free Relay – 2nd the event, but dropped 3.88 seconds as a team
            Ricky Stamatis (12), Dylan Smiley (8), Zach Charalambides (12), Jack Rodriguez (11)
Vasilisa Nestsceret (11) – 2nd in the 200 Free, won the 500 Free
Chloe Cartledge (8) – 1st in the 200 IM dropping 7.5 seconds,
Tamara Bhardwaj (9) – Won the 100 Breast
Jack Rodriguez (11) – 2nd in the 50 Free, dropping ½ second,
Dylan Smiley (8) – 1st in the 100 Free dropping .4 seconds, & 2nd in the 100 Breast
Ricky Stamatis (12) – won the 100 Back
 
The Girls Middle School Swim Team (2-1) lost to Gulliver 85-55.  The Boys Middle School Swim Team (1-1) lost to Gulliver 102-37.

Sydney Lydecker (7) – Won the 50 Fly, 2nd in the 100 Free
Hannah Webb (6) – 3rd in the 200 Free, new Personal Best -2:37.91
Felipe Blaya (8) – 3rd in the 200 Free – dropping 12.68 & won the 50 Breast
Evan Hurwitz (7) – 3rd in the 100 Free
 
In Monday’s Athletic Action…..The Golf Team shot a 332 at the Archbishop McCarthy Invitational.  Griffin Steutel led the way with a 73, Quin Walker added an 81, and Jaden Russell shot an 83. 
 
Today…..the Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball Teams travel to University School at 4:30/6pm. 
 
Varsity Football…..The Varsity Football Team hosts their home opener on Thursday against Boca Christian at 7pm.  Please come out to support the boys and our coaches.
