In Friday’s Athletic Events……The Varsity Football Team (1-0) beat Pinecrest Prep Academy in their season debut 12-8. James Brill threw at 32 yard touchdown pass to Jackson Halliwell, Tyler Gale threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Ethan White, and Daniel Dieppa, Noah Markofsky, and Jonathan Aguste each played well on defense. The Varsity Volleyball Team (4-7) beat Doctors Charter 25-11, 25-10, 25-9. Alexandra Vaygensberg led the way with 8 kills, 2 digs, and 2 service points, Francesca Malo had 10 service points, 2 aces, 5 receptions, and 4 digs, Carolina Ortegon added 7 kills and 7 service points, and Rianna Washington had 8 kills. The Middle School (Varsity) Volleyball Team (10-0) beat Riviera Prep 25-16, 25-12. Tiana Tolles had 5 aces and 4 kills, Isabella Possin added 4 aces and 6 assists, Isabella Brod had 3 aces and 2 kills, and Sienna Rosenberg added 4 assists. The Middle School (JV) Volleyball Team (4-2) beat Riviera Prep 25-9, 25-11. Lucia Cartolano and Chiara Moura each had 7 aces, and Laura De Wilde added 4 aces. The Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams had a great day at the Spanish River Invitational at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton. The Girls finished in 1st place and were led by Lauren McGaffic (2nd place overall in a time 20:11), Rachel Hodes (16th place with a PR of 22:40), Bella Smilowitz (PR 23:12), Cristina Hernandez, Brooke Nieder, Briana Espinosa, and Estella Dunham. The JV Girls team finished in 2nd place and were led Mallory McDonald (9th place), Elsa Levine (13h place), Taisa Strouse (17th), Scarlett Richards, and Jordan Horn. The Boys team finished 12th overall and were led by Ryan Mendelson, Andrew Weaver, Davis Lubestsky, Josh LeHockey, Josef Frankel, Cru Givens, and Patrick Lovelace. The JV Boys finished in 11th place and were led by Elias Muniz, Marcos Melado, Nicholas Perez, Josh Ader, and Tyler Sastre. The Junior Varsity Volleyball Team (5-3) participated in the Florida Christian Tournament. The girls lost to Key West 18-25, 25-13, 13-15, but beat Florida Christian 25-20, 25-14. In game 1, Emma Zelkowitz led the way with 20 service points, 7 assists, and 13 digs, and Morgan Loeb had 6 kills and 7 digs. In game 2, Sophie Gill Caicedo had 10 service points and 6 digs, Morgan Loeb added 14 service points and 5 digs, and Simone Hart had 5 service points, 6 assists, and 5 digs.
On Saturday…..The Junior Varsity Volleyball Team (6-4) lost to Carrollton 24-26, 25-17, 12-15, but beat Coral Shores 25-21, 25-16. Simone Hart led the way with 14 service points, 26 assists, and 23 digs, Johanna DeGori had 12 service points, 10 kills, and 14 digs, and Morgan Loeb added 11 kills and 30 digs. The Middle School (JV) Volleyball Team (7-3) hosted the Spartan Invitational. The girls beat Carrollton 25-23, 25-27, 15-12, beat Riviera Prep 25-17, 25-8, beat Gulliver 25-16, 25-14, but lost to Carrollton in the championship game 17-25, 25-22, 8-15.
In Today’s Action…..The Golf Team hosts University School at 3pm, and the Middle School (Varsity), Junior Varsity, and Varsity Volleyball Teams host Hillel at 4/5/6:30pm.
