Miami Country Day School opened in 1938 as a small, K-8 boarding school. Eight decades later, current with and connected to the global educational needs of today’s students, we enrich the lives of over 1250 students from various backgrounds and from all over the world in grades Pre-K3 to 12. At MCDS, our faculty meet curious students where they are and move them holistically and individually toward discovering, developing, and using their unique gifts and talents to serve themselves, their communities, and those less fortunate. We build visionary leaders. Simply walking through the gates each morning makes us better people.

I invite you to explore MCDS on line and on campus and feel the welcome and warmth of a true community and experience the palpable energy that powers our vital school. You will hear it in the banter on the stairwells, the calls from the athletic fields, the laughter from a student performance, the slap of water at the pool.  A vital school “vitalizes.”  A vital school is always a happy school. You will leave us noting a new spring in your step!

I sure do. How fortunate I feel to serve as Interim Head of School.

With gratitude and all best wishes,

James W. Connor
