Four of our Spartans participated in a student dialogue!
On Wednesday November 18, 2020, Miami Country Day School students Abigail Cherenfant, Christopher Anderson, Andi Gale, Ella Gilderman, and Glen Turf, Director of Global Studies & International Programs, participated in a global student dialogue on “Global Perspectives on Justice.” Over 160 students from six different countries-- Bhutan, Canada, Chile, China, India, and the United States--attending 26 different schools all came together to discuss their perspectives. Student participants identified and shared about some of the key events that have inspired conversations about social justice in their home countries, and they used these shared experiences to develop more complex understandings of what justice and engaged citizenship mean to them.
This virtual student dialogue gave students an opportunity to learn how to engage in respectful dialogue, communicate across differences, and understand multiple perspectives around a complex global issue. The program was organized by the Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG), a non-profit association of schools with global education programs, during International Education Week--a joint effort of the US Department of State and US Department of Education to celebrate the benefits of international exchange.
