Grandparents and Special Friends Day is a time for our loved ones to come to campus and get a sense of what it is like to be a Spartan. It is a very treasured event when our students are able to share a little piece of their world at school with one of their beloved adults.
Grandparents and Special Friends day is not only an opportunity for outsiders to have a special experience, but it is also a unique opportunity for all three divisions to be leaders. Lower and Middle School students are able to have their guest attend activities and or classes with them- really inviting the guest to be a Spartan! Some of the activities included playing games in the gym while others allowed our students to get creative with the visitor: “I enjoyed painting with my granddad. I painted a picture of him showing his mustache” Noa, 1st grade.
Middle School leadership class and Upper School Student government have the opportunity to act as Student Ambassadors- a position where students provide assistance as needed whether it be leading a guest to the appropriate classroom or showing them to coffee!
For some of the guest, the day is an opportunity to see how Miami Country Day has changed over the years, or to even walk down memory lane, for others it is a chance to learn about all the amazing things that go on.
We look forward to Grandparents and Special Friends Day so make sure to plan ahead for next year’s event!
