Academic Goals Lead to Earned Credits
Setting the program apart, students lead the process of determining the level of achievement they wish to earn credit via foundational, advanced, or college level course work.
In this program, all coursework builds from the foundational level. This is equivalent to the college prep, course experience. However, unlike the typical high school experience, instead of sitting in an honors section of a particular course, students work with their advisor to look at the body of a subject area and then propose the what, how, and when they want to earn advanced or college level credit in subject areas that are of interest to them. This allows higher-level work to be personal and tailored to the student’s interests. This could happen by deciding to sit for an AP exam, the development of an in-depth subject specific research project, the creation of a portfolio or, who knows where a student may go in their quest to learn!
