Thank You...
A message from John Davies, Head of School
and your Development/Alumni Team
Miami Country Day School appreciates the many people who support our school in its mission to educate lifelong learners. As 2012 comes to a close we want to take this opportunity to recognize those who supported Miami Country Day School during the previous 2011-12 school year. Please join us in recognizing and thanking donors who gave gifts in support of our children, teachers, programs and facilities last year as can be found in the 2011-12 Donor Report.
To date there are already a number of people who committed their support for the current 2012-13 school year. Thank you to our current Annual Giving Family of Givers.
Creating and sustaining a culture of philanthropy has a long heritage in independent schools. Much of the growth and success at Miami Country Day is the direct result of this tradition of giving. Giving can take many forms including serving as a volunteer, sharing one’s expertise, and making our school the beneficiary of one’s charitable giving. The most recent example of growth at Miami Country Day is the Katherine E. Franco Center for Learning Resources. This beautiful facility, built at a cost of nearly $10 million, was made possible through the philanthropic support of trustees, parents, grandparents, and alumni. In addition to financial gifts, a number of trustees and parents gave generously of their time and expertise in both the design and construction of this amazing facility. As a result of these gifts of time, expertise and financial resources several generations of students will have countless learning experiences.
The heart of the Country Day mission is the education of the whole child. To that end, an education that reflects a commitment to the development of all areas of a young person’s life, requires considerable resources. Miami Country Day is a nonprofit institution with our revenue coming solely from tuition dollars and philanthropic gifts. Recognizing the value of philanthropic giving, the federal government provides significant tax benefits to encourage individuals and organizations to support nonprofit institutions.
Thank you for your support of Miami Country Day School and for being a member of our community. All the best to you and yours for a happy and healthy holiday season and New Year!
