Athletics
Teamwork, sportsmanship, tradition, dedication, self-esteem - these are all values fostered by our athletics program that stay with student-athletes for a lifetime. The fundamental purpose of the athletic program is to encourage each student-athlete to appreciate the lifelong values of physical activity; to provide the opportunity to become experienced, skilled, and confident in any athletic arena; and above all, to make the athletic experience rewarding and educational.
We offer collegiate facilities and endless options for our 37 athletic teams to challenge themselves and each other to improve and grow. Our coaches, many of whom are teachers at the school, provide instruction and encouragement to build strong teams on and off the field.
We compete against some of the top teams throughout Florida and have earned district and regional championships in sports such as golf, cross country, basketball, volleyball, swimming, soccer, tennis, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. As a student-athlete at Miami Country Day, lifelong friendships and memories are forged while developing an appreciation for health, fitness and sport.
Athletic Annoucements:

The Miami Country Day Boys’ (11-9) and Girls’ (7-9) Water Polo Teams won District 14 in back-to-back, one-goal victories that sent coach Alain Guillen diving into the pool to celebrate with his players each time Wednesday at MAST Academy. First the Spartan girls beat MAST Academy 9-8 in overtime to clinch their fifth consecutive district title, and the boys bested Hialeah 13-12 with a fourth-quarter comeback. Both teams have tall tasks ahead of them in the state play-in round as the girls play four-time defending state champion Ransom Everglades, and the boys will face 25-1 Belen.
Tennis State action…..Sagemont’s Jake Albo was up against Country Day’s Shaun Berman for the second consecutive year, but this time it wasn’t so easy. Jake Albo’s path to a second consecutive state Class 1A boys’ singles crown was nowhere as easy as the first. Pushed to a third set by frequent training partner Shaun Berman of Miami Country Day, the Sagemont senior found the stroke that went missing one set earlier, emerging with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 triumph Wednesday at Red Bug Lake Park.
